Cultural Immersion Camp: British Isles

Sprouts Circle is excited to host a camp all about The British Isles! This global studies camp seeks to create an immersive experience for kids by focusing on unique activities for kids that embody the day to day lives and traditions of people in a given country or culture. This is a 5 day camp that runs from Monday, July 8th through Friday, July 12th. From 9am-1pm each day kids will get to experience the culture of the entities that make up the British Isle. Camp cost is $100 per child for the week. This camp is for children in K-5th grade. Class maximum is 8 students.This ensures that each student receives individualized attention to make their experience the most authentic and immersive as possible. Culture in the British Isles is a balance between fanciful whimsy and structured societal and family order. We will begin each day by reading aloud from books and excerpts that give insight into traditions and ideas within English, Scottish, and Irish folklore. Each day students will engage in art, science, and cooking activities designed to introduce kids to the aesthetic, behavioral, and flavor conventions of the region. Students will also get to enjoy traditional styles of music, such as waulking songs and Celtic and English melodies. Kids will also enjoy playing adapted versions of the Scottish Highland Games where they will fly banners and participate for honor and infamy. Visit our Summer Camps page for more details!
