Cultural Immersion Camp: Japan
All about Japan! For kids K-5th grade
Service Description
Sprouts Circle is excited to host a camp all about Japan! This global studies camp seeks to create an immersive experience for kids by focusing on unique activities for kids that embody the day to day lives and traditions of people in a given country or culture. This is a 5 day camp that runs from Monday, June 10th through Friday, June 14th. From 9am-1pm each day kids will be transported to Japan! Camp cost is $100 per child for the week. This camp is for children in K-5th grade. Class maximum is 8 students. This ensures that each student receives individualized attention to make their experience the most authentic and immersive as possible. We will transform the classroom into an engawa and a washitsu to mimic the feeling of being in a Japanese home. We will begin each day by practicing radio taiso (a form of Japanese calisthenics broadcasted on the radio in the morning). We will then read aloud from books and excerpts that give insight into various art forms that originated in Japan. Each day students will engage in art, science, and cooking activities designed to further immerse them in Japanese life. Students will also get to enjoy various styles of Japanese music (such as Taiko drums), and playing with traditional Japanese toys and group games. Visit our Summer Camps page for more details!
